Marc Philpart

Mark Philpart, a managing director at Policy Link utilizes community for his work with the Alliance for Boys and Men of Color, as well as in the Healing Together Campaign, which deals directly with violence in the home. This campaign engages men and all genders on the topic of intimate partner violence in order to build safe and accountable communities. There's often a strong connection between racism and gender based violence, domestic violence and community violence. Because of this, it is Marc's belief that new routines, new systems for the prevention of violence are needed.

"We quickly came to the conclusion that violence was something that started in the home. People recounted stories to us, of their first experience, where their father was trying to kill their mother. We quickly began to understand the interconnection between domestic and community violence, how violence was something that was much more deep-seated and how cycles of harm were perpetuated by virtue of people's experience in the home."
